We spent 10 days over easter at the Long Bay Hotel and stayed
in the View House. It was simply perfect for us. The beach is exquisite,
the accommodation is spacious, clean and comfortable. It is not
high-end luxury and the bathrooms are pretty tired but this did
not matter to us - everything worked fine. The food was lovely
(altho' we would have like more carribean specialities), and the
staff were incredibly nice (thank you Sandra, Sam, Chris and Sasha).
Our children (3,5) had the time of their lives - and learnt to
swim. We also saw quite a lot of the island touring by taxi with
Ken, a really interesting guy and great company. Holidaying with
young children can be a challenge but this ticked every single
box and we are desperate to return!

We loved Long Bay Hotel so much we returned for a second holiday
this April and will book again next year.
If you want to get away from the rat-race and have a no pressure,
laid back break in beautiful surroundings, this is the place.
The deluxe rooms are spacious with a ceiling fan, giant comfortable
bed and balcony with a fantastic view of the peaceful bay. No mod-cons,
but everything you need to be comfortable.
Housekeeping standards are excellent as are the meals.
The beach is stunning and the beach-bar is quite the loveliest
place to have lunch or relax with a drink when the sun gets too
much.
Thanks to the wonderful staff, the hotel feels like home from home
and would suit everyone/any age other than those looking for lots
of night-life.
You can get marble, glitz and satellite tv anywhere, but what you
will get at this unique hotel is charm, courtesy and good old-fashioned
style.

Superb service, lovely views, great snorkeling. We had a very
relaxing week.
A minute's walk to a great snorkeling beach (see photos I'll post).
Free use of snorkel gear, sailboats, and other gear.
Long Bay includes dinner (be sure to ask ahead if you would like
a vegetarian meal) and breakfast, both superb. Nice games room
and library. We both loved Big Sam's rum punch.
No phones, no TV. Very quiet. Most rooms are right on the water.
We enjoyed a walk to Devil's Bridge (bring a hat and something
to drink) nearby. There's not much else within walking distance,
so if you like getting around consider renting a car for the week
or (as we did) getting a one-day tour of the island.
A couple of things to note:
- Despite the signs saying Long Bay is an eco-resort, I didn't
see much evidence of that -- not even compact fluorescent bulbs.
- We found no working cash machines around the island. You can
get an advance on your credit card at a bank (slow) or at the Long
Bay desk with a surcharge.
We're thinking about next February already...
