Ecolodge at the shore of Lake Atitlán.  Two hectareas of land 12 rooms.
Restaurant with healthy food
Facilities: Jacuzzi, sauna, private deck, gazebos, (rancho) for meetings, organic vegetables; harmonius relationship with the community of San Juan.

The community of San Juan la Laguna is located 175 kilometers from Guatemala City.
The ecolodge can be reached by paid road or by boat from Panajachel or from Santiago Atitlan.

Our plan is that in 2 year we will install solar panels.

All electrical bulbs are energy saver.
To hit the sauna we used wood from the same area.

  

GARDENS – ORGANIC FOOD – RECYCLING-CHEMICALS

We have Wide gardens.  Many of the flowers are native from the region.  Besides flowers our gardens is made up of cultivated vegetables and medicinal herbs.

We buy from the producers of the community about 90% of the products we use. We buy shampoo from 2 women’s, a group from the town.

We do produce compost to fertilize organic cultivation.  The guest can observe and touch this process (it is hot inside).  Guest is encouraged to buy local products.

  

CHEMICALS AND CLEANING PRODUCTS

We consume low quantities of chemical products, many to wash cloths.  Both shampoo and soaps are bio degradable.

  

WATER

Water used in the hotel is from the public service of the Community.  Which is abundant and pure.
Guest is encouraged through letter and through specific request to save water and electricity.

We have two excrete disposal systems.  One comes from Guatemala City.  This is industrial product and it is cleaned approximately every year.  The other system is a traditional waste of disposal excrete through stone holds.  In never needs cleaning.

We clean the lake shores.  We participate in periodic joint efforts to clean the lake.  We plant several trees which function as bird houses.  No bird or any other species are getting in jail.

The certification of our good practices by Green Deal.  This is a result of the accomplishment of good standards in several aspects: economic, conservation, culture, environment, internal organization, etc.

Staff participate in different courses like hygiene, organic agriculture, first aid, guest’s attendance, food preparation.

We do give every guest a letter informeing them about community, lake, practices and orientation to how get benefits of his or her experience during in the stay at the ecolodge.

We have very low environmental impact.  The construction of the hotel has made mainly from carved stones from the same site.  The reception and restaurant was constructed following the style from the catholic church.
We clean our property from much garbage sent from the neighboring areas or bus passengers.

We ask every guest to evaluate his or her experience and the services provided by the hotel.  Every month we process such data to build an extratistic of the month.  We correct details and follow up on comments and suggestions.  The reordering of the garden and the construction of a new area for restaurant opened to looking at the lake is an answer to guest suggestions.

Our mission states: “To provide hospitality services in harmony in nature and culture”.
Consequently we try to put into practice such statement.  Not only that, we ask visitor to be respectful to local cultural practices.
